Happy Friday Effort folks! I spent the bulk of this week in Hampton attending the Baptist General Association of Virginia’s (BGAV) annual meeting. We partner with the 1400+ churches of the BGAV because together we can have a greater mission impact on our commonwealth, nation and the world. I was greatly encouraged by the stories coming out of the disaster relief ministries efforts in Liberty, TX, Florida and Puerto Rico. I also loved hearing how our contributions to the BGAV help start new congregations around Virginia. It’s great to be a part of a community of faith that is focused on both honoring existing congregations while also building new communities as well.
Matt brought several members of the praise band to help lead worship during the conference. If I might brag on the team. . .our guys did a phenomenal job in leading the people into worship. I’ve seen a lot of musicians roll through this conference over the years but Matt and the team took the time to prayerfully lead people into an awareness of the presence of God. I’m very proud of them and I hope you are as well.

Upward Basketball and Cheerleading
We have completed Upward registration and have 150 children signed up for basketball and 11 cheerleaders! We are still in need of some crucial volunteers to support the program. If you are interested in helping or know someone who is please email us at: upward-dir@effortchurch.org (mailto:upward-dir@effortchurch.org)
Needs include:
– Coaches (Kindergarten, 3&4 grade and 5&6 grade)
– Referees
– Someone to set up chairs along sideline each week (starting in Jan for 8 Saturdays)
