This year, on Sunday, Dec. 3rd at 5PM in the Sanctuary, we are observing a service called Blue Christmas.
Christmas is the season where we get to celebrate Christ through family fun, hope and joy. It’s a great season, except for when you’re hurting. For those journeying through pain, this time of the year can be very challenging. Many of us struggle with difficult emotions and experiences that are made more challenging by the holiday season. For those who are coping with loss, the death of a loved one, the death of a dream, or simply a difficult season of life, Blue Christmas offers a time to honor grief and pain in a safe place.
This will be a different kind of worship experience than what you find on Sunday mornings. The goal of this service is not to provide neat answers for why suffering occurs but to find hope in what is ultimately the message of Christmas: That a light shines in the darkness, and the darkness cannot overcome it, no matter how much it seems like the darkness is winning. You are invited to join us for a safe place of rest, comfort and healing.
