How it all started
Established in 1864, Effort Church's faithful founders once gathered in a small tobacco barn. Over the course of well over a hundred years, its faithful members grew out of that building into the campus it is today now consisting of a newly renovated Sanctuary, a multipurpose-use gymnasium named the Family Life Center (which we usually call the FLC), a large recreational field and a Christian School & Preschool.

Expanding the vision
We believe that God created us to live UP, IN, and OUT:
UP, in close relationship with God
IN, amidst a close family of others in relationship with God
OUT, with love and care towards those in our community, region, and world.
We see our primary mission field to be right here in Fluvanna. Our chief metrics as a church are not simply how many attend or how big our annual budget is (yes, those can be markers of organizational health), rather, we strive to connect people into the transformational power of Christ in their lives through creating disciples (followers of Jesus) who become disciple-makers of others.
Multiply, as the early church did, not simply add.

Where we are headed
“Come,” he replied, “and you will see.”
John 1:39
