Good Afternoon Effort Family,
I wanted to take a minute to update you on our response to the Corona Virus. Most importantly, we reaffirm our belief that God is working for good, and we will continue to see his Kingdom advance. Further, Scripture tells us that love drives out fear, so this is an opportunity to seek Him and see God’s beauty all around us.
We are, however, taking this seriously and have been in contact with regional emergency services, VDH, UVA, and Sentara Health Care to coach us on how to serve the community well during this season. While there is a low risk for the vast majority of the population if infected, there are some in our community who do face a higher risk. As a community of faith, we have a responsibility to serve those folks by proactively putting some measures into place. So, here are the current changes to our published schedules:
* Chili Night is postponed to the fall.
* Men’s breakfast that was scheduled for Sat. March, 14th is being rescheduled.
* Rise Against Hunger contacted us to reschedule the food packing event that was scheduled for March 28th. We are working towards an alternate date in July to coincide with our Christmas in July ministry.
* Young at Heart Bag Lunch Bible Study is not meeting for the rest of March.
Currently, we are planning to hold all services as scheduled. I’ll post a video with some advice about a few temporary changes we’re making tomorrow.
